The cashier was insanely rude and never smiled or said thank you. \nShe was unhappy to explain what comes inside the burrito, upon asking. \nAlso, she did not inform us that it was 10 cents extra for a to go order. She charged us for the bag without asking if we needed one, which we didn’t.\nBy the way, they don’t wear gloves while wrapping the burritos and touching any of the food.
I don’t even know how this place got this high of star rating. They messed up my order 3 times, I asked for crunchy tacos and got something deep fried with burned meat in it. \n\nI had to return the food for mistakes a couple times by the last time I gave up. The lady cooking behind the counter is so rude and has horrible customer service. \n\nTo sum it up… greasy, burned, bad service! \n\nHighly recommend not going there
CHEESE TAMALES. Your welcome!\nPOTATO TACOS. Your VERY welcome!\n\nLet me just accept your thanks in advance so that you don’t feel ignored as I inhale this delicious damn food!!! The potato tacos here are the BEST that a sista has ever had. They were also the first place that I ever had them, and I just instantly fell in love. And let me just clarify; their potato tacos are a mix of potatoes and ground beef. A deadly combo that always has me begging for more. \n\nWhen I first moved to the area, this was my go-to spot. An old coworker of mine ranted and raved about the potato tacos here, and I just knew that I had to see what all of the fuss was about. At first I was like… who in the hell puts flippin’ POTATOES in a damn taco? But after I experienced the phenomenon… I knew I would never be able to turn back. It was like potato tacos every 4 days, every 3 days, every 2 days, and then every other day. \n\nI actually had to ween myself off of them by trying something else. So, I tried their tamales. And what I thought would help me, actually made things worse. Now, I was coming in not only for their potato tacos… but now for their delicious cheese tamales! Lord have mercy! I had to take a break from them altogether because I just couldn’t stop eating there. Their tamales are homemade and filled with the most delicious green chili and melted cheese. \n\nAnd their CHIPS! Let’s not forget their bangin’ ass chips and salsa. It’s a Tortilleria, so you can only expect the best when it comes to their chips. It just sucks that they aren’t complimentary, but hey, I understand. These babies are hand made everyday and you can taste the difference. If you don’t come early enough, they may run out of things. There’s been countless times when they’ve run out of tamales for the day. They only make a certain quantity and then they sell them until they’re gone. \n\nI’ve also had their enchiladas plate and chicken crispy tacos. While they were tasty, I would definitely say that their specialities here are those potato tacos and enchiladas. I almost never order anything else from here because I get cravings for them. If you come near closing time, be prepared to wait. It is always busy in here! There’s another location in a Walnut Creek that isn’t as busy, but this location is where it’s at. Bottom line is: you must let their potato tacos and their cheese tamales grace your face as soon as possible!
This is my spot for Mexican food! The best al pastor burrito I’ve ever had. Their burritos are huge and include yummy guacamole! All the menu items are worth a try including taco dorado (potato taco) and pupusas. I highly recommend bionico for dessert – diced fresh fruits with crema, granola, shredded coconut. Truly my favorite concoction!
The best tacos in concord! You can buy fresh meat and tortillas in bulk which is great for big parties. Everything is priced very well so you won’t break the bank going to get quality Mexican food. My favorite are the tacos but they have burritos, menudo, quesadillas, tortilla chips, sides of rice and beans, and fresh fruit drinks. \n\nIt’s right in the heart of the monument corridor and tucked around the corner which provides for some outdoor seating. It’s not the most aesthetically pleasing place but it doesn’t take away from the delicious food!
My friend ordered a taco salad with chicken. He said the rice tasted ok, but the pinto beans were too watery. \n\nMy chicken soft taco was filling, but pales in comparison to some of the better tacos I’ve had at Los Pericos or Cinco Taco Bar in San Leandro. \n\nAffordable place with mediocre flavors. Not addictive enough for me to go out of my way to visit again.
This is such a cool restaurant. It’s like a Krispy Kreme donut factory but with tortillas.\n\nI ordered a combo burrito, chile relleno, and a chicharone pupusa. They have many choices for the burrito and pupusa, I didn’t have enough stomache space to eat everything, I actually didn’t eat the burrito until 4 hrs later cause I got full off of the pupusa and chile relleno.\n\nEverything here was good, everything here was cheap. I wish I had this restaurant near my home so I could eat here everyday.
Food: 4.5/5 Price: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5\n\nWOW…WOW! Tortilleria El Molino is a super authentic, clean, and big Mexican restaurant / deli located in a strip center. It’s at the very very back corner. Last time we came we couldn’t find it and ended up at a near by place that had really bad food. I’m so glad I gave them a second chance and we finally got to come to the right place. The prices are INCREDIBLE! On top of that, you get super generous portions, pipping hot and delicious fresh food. What else can you ask for?\n\nCarnitas plate – the Bomb! LOTS of carnitas, rice, beans, cheese, lettuce, and 6 corn tortillas. (or 3 flour) The carnitas was so flavorful and succulent, with the right ratio of crispiness and tender meat. The beans were saucy and warm, with melted cheese! I also LOVED the green chili sauce the gave on the side, ask for 3! The corn tortillas, yes there were 6 of them, was warm and made fresh. It did not have a weird smell like many do, and was so soft and delicious. LOVED every single part of it, and it was so cheap and enough to feed 2 people!\n\nMixed cold pressed juice – carrot, orange, red beet, celery. This was so fresh and delicious! They have a clean juice bar and you see people working in there, making your juice from pure vegetables and fruits with no addition of water nor sugar. Yes!\n\nFavorites:\n* Carnitas plate ($5.99)\n* Mixed cold pressed juice ($3.50)
This place is hands down my favorite restaurant off of Monument! It’s got a really authentic five with the tortillas being made behind the counter. It is always popping, especially if you go during a lunchtime on the weekend which is always when I can. \n\nEverything I’ve had here I’ve enjoyed, but I especially like the crispy tacos and tostadas. The chips are great and you have to take home the homemade tortillas or else you seriously wasted a trip. The inside is nothing special in terms of the esthetic but that’s not why you come here. You come here for classic Mexican food in a really cultured part of town. As long as management stays, this will always be a staple for me!
We always buy lunch for the office here, this is one of the best and authentic mexican cuisine i ever tasted. Place needs some cleaning but the staff are very friendly. \n\nI don’t know much about mexican food but the cashier taught me a lot about it so i for sure know some already. \n\nThis is like our 10th tine coming back here.
In his Ugly Delicious episode about tacos, David Chang says that the mark of a legit Mexican place is if they make their own tortillas.\n\nEl Molino makes their own tortillas.\n\nYou can thank gentrification and Sf NIMBYs for the $12+ price tags for a standard burrito in SF now. The burritos at el Molino cost a hair over $7. And they weigh around 2 lbs. Plus, they aren’t shy with the guac, sour cream, and salsa.\n\nThe tortas, tacos, burritos, taco \”salad\” here are all on point and very very generously portioned. \n\nThey also sell their meats by the pound for catering.

Talk about nostalgia! If you ever had that good ol’ cheese sauce atop meat in between a tasty sweet bun back in grade school and constantly dream about it, this is the place to visit if you’re ever in Concord, CA.\n\nHot Pocket fans, get outta here. Patty’s Original Cheese Zombies takes the pocket pie to a whole new level. \n\nFamily owned business who takes customer service very seriously. Right when you walk in you can tell the place is spotless. It’s obvious they are up to code on cleanliness and safety.\n\nI was able to catch them before they closed and there was one employee making special orders for a customer. It’s best to get here right when they open because everything is super fresh. Basically like Krispy Kreme when they advertise \”hot now\” in the window.\n\nThe menu changes seasonally, if not weekly, or even daily. The owners are always taking suggestions for different flavors, toppings, combinations, etc., so don’t be shy!\n\nI’m telling you, once you eat here, you’ll forever be a cheese zombie. Beware.
This place is great for a quick stop! You can almost always park right in front. Go early or they may be out of the sausage zombie, which is the best. \n\nToday we had:\n\nPastrami Zombie – white cheese, jalape\u00f1o, pastrami – SO GOOD\n\nCheese and jalape\u00f1o zombie – suuuper spicy. Pickled jalape\u00f1os.
I am almost don’t want to say how good this place is … their cheese zombies are amazing. They always have the basic breakfast and cheese jalape\u00f1o and then their specialty ones the chorizo cheese zombie is to die for and the cheese burger is amazing. Luckily I don’t live close by otherwise I would come everyday
Cheese zombies are nostalgic AF. Used to have these in high school everyday at break–ugh so yummy.\n\nAnyways Patty’s Original Cheese Zombies are even better than they were at my high school. So much cheese and just the right amount of bread–I have dreams about these zombies. \n\nMy only complaint is that the past three times I’ve come, they have been out of the sausage zombie (my absolute favorite). I always get the bacon instead, but always the bacon is bunched up on one side of the zombie, leaving the other side bare. Still, it’s super good.\n\nYou already know I’ll be back!
My husband would non stop talk about the cheese zombies he use to have I school. So it intrigued me when we found this shop. They are actually very good. A simple thing that tastes amazing. I love the ham and cheese, my husband can’t choose his favorite. When they make cookies they are delicious and decent size, we went in with my oldest and she was drooling over it. When we’re in concord and by chance they are open we find our way here to bring back memories for my husband plus make new ones with the kids.
These are just huge kolaches. Stuffed full of deliciousness. We tried the breakfast, the ham jalapeno, and the biscuits and gravy. One is a big enough breakfast, but I wanted to go back for a round two.\nThis is an easy and simple choice for breakfast on the go. Grab one if you have a drive to work!
Love these zombies! Brings back the good old days and fond memories of high school. This is how a zombie should be made. (Before the schools changed the recipe) Delicious cheese melted inside a sweet fresh roll. I have to admit I only eat plain cheese, but I allow myself one of these scrumptious treats once a month. They are always a perfect temperature to sink your mouth into as you’re walking out the door. Never cold and always fresh.\nTHANK YOU PATTY for opening this shop!!!!
What a blast from the past. I almost have to stay away since its right across from the gym….. almost. If you went to the local schools then you know what this is. If not come by and give it a try. Soft bread filled with cheese or other items. I know its not for everyone but to be honest who cares. For those that like this or have tasted it in their childhood its a no brainier. You need to come here and remember the past.
4.5/5 \n\nNOSTALGIA, grew up with these awesome zombies. The reason for the rating is the price. Almost $3 for a OGzombie. I paid less in school lol. I mean even $2 would be better for just cheese. Other prices seem reasonable for what’s inside though. Will always come back. Hope they never close.
My Yelp friends, it’s time for a history lesson.\n\nI’m sure most of you have heard of the term \”Government Cheese\”. It refers to a government program in which cheese is bought to support diary prices. Cheese and other diary products are stockpiled by the government and distributed to welfare recipients, disaster victims, elderly folks etc. Cheese zombies are a product of this program, as most public schools receive such subsidy. When I was in high school, cheese zombies, a.k.a. freshly baked soft buns filled with gooey cheese, were my favorite brunch snack. They were $1 each (or $1.50 for sausage zombies). That and a box of chocolate milk (20 cents) were certainly the combo that I looked forward to each morning.\n\nYesterday, while on my way to check out fellow Yelper Bob K.’s new pad in Concord, I spotted Patty’s Original Cheese Zombies. When I told Bob about it, his curiosity piqued as he had never heard of it. After he was done with a quick home improvement task, we headed over the Patty’s so that he can try it for the first time and I can relive my high school days.\n\nPatty’s is located at the Dana Plaza, at the corner of Concord Boulevard and Landana Drive and a block away from Concord High School. It is not close to any freeway. We pulled in at around 2:30pm and had no trouble finding parking. \n\nThere were no customers inside when we walked in. Two workers were working behind the counter. As I was checking out Patty’s menu, I noticed they offer a variety of cheese zombies (most of them with meat filling of some sort). Prices range from $2.95 (the original cheese zombie) to upward of $5 (zombie with meat and egg inside). Since we just had lunch not longer ago, we ordered a couple of the original cheese zombies ($5.90 total). One of the workers got them out of the bread warmer and handed them to us. \n\nWe ate our zombies at one of the tables outside. The zombies were warm, but not piping hot. Taste wise, it was exactly the same as the ones I had in high school. I wish I had gotten them when they were fresh out of the oven. Maybe next time I will go early in the morning.\n\nIMHO, $2.95 for a cheese bun is a bit high. I wouldn’t recommend making a special trip just to try this place out. But if you are in the area and looking for a quick snack, this place could be an option. \n\nBONUS MATERIAL:\n\n- Large parking lot on site.\n- Major credit cards accepted. $5 minimum purchase.\n- Outdoor seating only.
VERDICT\nHmmm…\n\nRETURN VISIT? \nNot likely.\n\nFOOD\nWent with Harvey K and also I was intrigued about this place and the zombies after reading their website. Yeah I get it: there’s some history and nostalgia to these little edibles. I can see why people like them esp. high school students on a budget or someone looking for a filling quick bite, but it’s nothing more than just melted cheese in a white bun bread. They have other kinds of fillings, but I just opted for their standard cheese zombie. \n\nDINING ATMOSPHERE\nMainly a take out place with a few patio tables outside. \n\nSERVICE\nApathetic.\n\nPARKING \nThe plaza has plenty of parking.\n\nBATHROOM\nNone for customers inside the restaurant\n\nPRICING\nIf I recall correctly, $2.50 for the standard cheese zombie.\n\nOTHER\nNext to barbershop
Patty’s Original Zombies are one of the best spots in Concord. I have first tried this place when I went to the Music in the Park in downtown Concord. They’ve had a booth out there and I tried the ham and cheese one and it was so good that I was hoping they had a shop where you can just stop by. Well what do you know they opened one up off of Clayton and they definitely had more variety. When you enter in they have drinks at the right from sodas, juices and water. You can smell the fresh dough and cheese baking in the shop. They have seating indoors and outdoors so if you want to enjoy your zombie fresh there you can.\n\nI’ve recently ordered the ham and cheese, the breakfast which comes with sausage bacon egg and cheese and the new biscuits and gravy. Let me say that biscuits and gravy was to die for. Just the though of it is making my mouth water. I definitely recommend trying this place because it never let’s it’s customers down.
