California State Department of Motor Vehicles – 5245 S Grove, Rocklin CA 95677
Super friendly employees…I wish more DMVs prided themselves on customer service. None of the employees I interacted with had a negative or confrontational attitude. In fact, they were super upbeat and helpful. I interacted with four different employees and all of them went the extra mile to ensure that I got the information I needed.
I was there to renew my drivers license and get some information on registering my vehicle. Although, I waited about 30-45 minutes total it wasn’t terribly long. I overheard one of the employees say that this DMV location has the shortest wait time in the region.
So, my trip to the DMV was a pleasant one. Never thought I’d say that. Thanks Rocklin DMV – keep up the quality service and smiles!
Examples of good service:
1. One agent highlighted key information on the documents I needed.
2. Another agent had a friendly conversation with me about my Warriors sweater as I took my DL photo. She even called me “son” which I thought was very endearing.
The only thing I’d recommend is that they separate the photo ID line from the DL test line. Several people were confused about which line to stand in and they had to seek clarification from those of us standing in line or be corrected/directed by a DMV employee.
But, overall, this DMV rocks!
So I needed to renew my licence and convert to real ID. I heard all the stories so 2 months before my birthday I went online to make and appointment trying all surrounding DMV offices and only found one with an appointment before my birthday.
I messed up and did not see the place online where I needed to pre-register my information instead of filling out the paper info. They nicely pointed me to a bank of touch screen computers to complete that. My whole time there was 1 hour and it would have been shorter if it was not for my mess up. Everyone was friendly, helpful and had great attitudes. There was even one person walking around and helping to guide people to make sure they were in the correct lines as they move through the process.
If you are not sure of something, ask. They are there to help. Allow enough time and you will come out the other side feeling OK about the process.
Great service and fast!
recommendation : Do some homework before going to DMV. I will share with you at below review.
I applied for Real ID( mine is not expired yet) but I just wanted to get it since the appointment takes to long.
I checked online for appointment on September and first appointment available is beginning Nov.
Which is fine for me since I just wanted to update to new ID, I still have few more years for my DL expiration date.
DMV always known for the long wait but that’s not my experience, I probably have the patience to wait for it but not time so I search online and do application online before head there.
Suggestions if you applied for Real ID :
– Do your application online and u will need the code provided when you come to DMV
– Bring all documents needed that listed there! Make sure no missing documents and not a copy one because one of my friend actually have to went home to get the original documents.
– Yes you need to make payment and no credit card payment!
So this is what I did.
-I walked in with long line for non appointment area but since I had appointment it take me less than one minute to be help ( that’s awesome)
– I got call to the windows service less than 5 minutes!
The only thing was the machine didn’t scan through my documents and they have to try for few times and actually it worked after they wipe the machine! If not because of that I was probably done with all my documents less than 15-20 mins!
The lady that helped me at Windows 15 (if I’m not wrong) was awesome! So nice and friendly.Thank you for your hard work and professionalism!
So do some homework before going to DMV it helps a lot!
I feel for staff went to get real Id at Roseville parking lot full with long lines. Went to Rocklin after 2 (1/2) hours waiting at G44 on 28 the computer system out. Told system went our for 3 hours yesterday & no schedule for it to resume. Took option to get apptm to return.
The staff were trying & it’s got to be tough to see customers wait for hours & then have to tell them computer out & no assurances when it will come back
Went in without an appointment, was in and out within an hour during what I’d think would be the busy time (around 1pm). The employees could not have been nicer, totally was not expecting that. I highly recommend the rocklin dmv for a pleasant dmv experience 🙂
My recent dmv visit here was much more positive than when I visited other dmv offices. The normal wait in line was much shorter here than my other previous visits to other local dmv places. This Rocklin DMV office was clean and new looking with big windows and great overhead lighting. The employees were pleasant to talk with. I look forward to coming back here for future driver license renewals.
we called Dmv headquarter and reported the unbelievable behavior of the supervisor and the lady by the name of Tara. We also had them transfer our plates to a different dmv and were able to pick them up there without ANY PROBLEM nor paying extra fees!
To The lady at window #11 (Tara) who said “i have your plates here but i wont give it to you”, i got MY PLATES today from someone who knew how to do her job. Hope no one has to deal with this rude incompetent lady and the clown supervisor
What a sad state of affairs.
This… is the face of our government. This… is what we pay for. This… is how our expectations are set for service.
The people working here seem pleasant enough, so please don’t take it personally… but I’m very very unhappy with my DMV experience, and sadly it’s not over.
All I’m trying to do is change the registration to an old truck from NV to CA. Seems like it should be pretty simple – but no, it’s already taken me two trips and several hours. I have it partially done after spending four hours at Roseville DMV. All I need is a VIN verification… that’s it. Five minutes of someone’s time, if that. I couldn’t get the VIN verification at Roseville because by the time they called my number and we got to that point, it was 5:15 PM. They don’t do VIN verifications after 5:00. Never mind that the reason I was there after 5 was the four hour wait I endured.
So this time I try my chances at this location. Same thing. A bunch of numb customers sitting around in a daze.
If this was a business, they’d be out of business. If coffee or fast food places have long lines, they send someone out with a clipboard or iPad to queue up orders in advance… and dammit, customers at THOSE places scream if it takes five minutes to get a coffee. But here at DMV, “you’ve got to pay your dues” is wait I was told when I was surprised that I’d have to wait five hours for someone to come out and verify the number on my truck matches the number on the paperwork.
“Get an appointment” he said.
“Appointments don’t help” said a guy, who had an appointment and was still waiting for hours.
So sure, I went home and got an appointment – the next available is more than two weeks away. To verify a number. Unbelievable.
The system is broken, folks. Sadly, we don’t expect or demand any better.
Nobody likes going to the DMV and it seems like every single DMV location sucks. But at the end of the day, going to the DMV is part of life and often not an option.
This DMV like all others has a line forming even before the doors open but the line is not nearly as bad as I have seen at other locations. Once waiting in line, I made contact with the staff who were knowledgeable and got my problem solved.
Overall, going to the DMV is not fun and no DMV is gonna get a five star rating but this DMV was not the worst. It’s also conveniently located so it gets 3 stars.
Terrible. Terrible and terrible service . They all had an attitude with us for anything . Everyone that helped us out were so rude , like why ? Do ur damn job without making everyone feel so disappointed in coming to this location .
Rocklin has a pretty nice DMV. The people that work there are efficient and personable.
I wanted to give special recognition to Tony, who does behind the wheel driving tests. He was very experienced and professional in evaluating my son’s driving skills. My son said he was “cool” and a nice guy. That’s says a lot given friends experiences at other DMV’s in the local area.
Thank you Tony for making my son feel at ease for his test.
Wait is going on 3+ hours now. Your logistic and organization skills are horrible. No signs outside for when there is a line wrapped around the building… I saw numerous people wait in line when they didnt have to. Claim being short staffed due to people calling out for vacation — why would you let so many people take vacation on the same dates? Why would you accept so many appointments on days you know you’re short staffed?
Morons. Fix your issues and find common sense.
Total shit-show!! Day 1: waited over 2 hours for them to tell me I was missing a piece of paper I needed, which the person who checked me in said I didn’t have to have. Day 2: waited 2 hours for them to tell me they stop the tests at 4:30, so I’d have to come back again. Edit: they eventually did let my daughter test.
Privatize the DMV already!!! The government has failed miserably at providing simple services to the taxpayers who provide their paychecks!
This truly was as good as it can get! I went with my mom to get her license renewed, she’s 83 yrs old and aced her test! The reason I was compelled to write a review for the Rocklin DMV was because of how fast it all went and how friendly each person we came into contact with was! They actually seemed to really love their job and it showed with the way my mom was treated. That’s hard to come by anymore especially at a DMV office. I just want to thank Rocklin DMV for the most painless experience and thank you for your exceptional service for my mom!
I didn’t think I would ever yelp a DMV, even if my experience was horrible cause it’s to be expected. The DMV is never an enjoyable experience. However, when you get your license renewed after taking a photo and test, and you’re out the door in 30 minutes, I get stoked and yelp about it. I cleared about 3 hours of my day to get this done and was so excited when I had an extra 2.5 hours to just enjoy the rest of the day. Thanks Rocklin! Keep up the friendly service!
I got in line at 7:50am thinking it opened ay 8am. To my surprise the lobby was full due to opening at 7am. I waited for 6 hours and left at 2pm. It would have been nice to know how long I would be waiting so I could have gone and returned.
Ok it’s the DMV, I expected a wait. I needed to change my name. After getting my name changed at the social security administration I went to the Rocklin DMV. There was a wait out the door and it snaked within the building. I wanted to make an appointment but appointments are over a month out. I got there at 10 am and didn’t get called until after 4. I had my husband bring lunch and the paperwork I needed for a real id; I didn’t have what I needed when I got there and they were really nice about it. I get called and I get the office manager. He was really nice and realized that the social security administration hadn’t updated their system so my new name didn’t show up. He gave me an appointment for the next week. I went in today and realized the long wait isn’t due to incompetent staff but incompetent people in line. While I was in line, one guy filled out paperwork and made his own line, there are 2 lines, appointment and non-appointment. People! You don’t make your own line! Then a woman took 20 minutes to talk about what paperwork she needed and then didn’t take the papers the lady gave her; mind you, this was the line just to get a number. I got called pretty quickly since I had an appointment and the lady that helped me was just filling in. She was really nice and even fixed my mistake on my application. If I could avoid it, I’d make an appointment every time I come here.
This DMV office is way understaffed and very small. I showed up an hour early and waited in a reasonable line for 2 hours. Its been a totle of 4 hours and I am still waiting for my number to be called. This DMV sucks dont come here.
Most pleasant DMV experience, ever! Guy up front greeted EVERYONE. Very upbeat guy. Very quick and efficient. In and out very quickly.
Your employee who wears a bow tie is extremely rude and unprofessional.. he threatened to call the police on me for no reason.. I had been there for 3 hours waiting ever so patiently went out to grab the paper I left in the car, was out for 2 minutes and came back to a locked door.. went in the side door with another fellow and was bombarded by this guys threats for no reason..this guy needs to learn how to talk to people like a human being.. I am beyond pissed and I will be escalating this complaint!
