Concord Police Department
So I got a parking ticket from Sun Valley Mall for $63 for not having my registration sticker on. Darn.
To get it fixed, I had to go down to a Police Station to get it checked and signed off and then send it in with a $10 check. The first place I came to was the Concord Police Station, where the front desk officer was chatting on his cell phone. After he got off and apologized, I told him my situation.
He informed me that they started charging $15 to have it checked off for Concord residents and $20 for out-of-town residents. He also told me that they just don’t have the staff to do it for ‘free’. However during this time, he could have stepped outside for 1 minute to checked my vehicle already.
Since I wasn’t willing to pay for it, I’d asked about other police stations where they don’t charge. He told me to go to Pleasant Hill ( they wont charge), but not to go to Pittsburgh (they’ll charge about $25).
I’m glad I went to Pleasant Hill Police Station. The lady there was much more helpful.
I help throw a beer festival in January. We used to do it in another city that was a nightmare to deal with. When we decided to move the fest to Concord it made me nervous to relearn a new process. I could not be happier. The police department is reasonable and easy to work with. We all have the same goal–a safe and fun festival.
Thanks for nothing. I called the police department this morning because a car had parked in the middle of my driveway and I was unable to leave. I asked to have it towed at minimum out of my drive way. There was plenty of parking all over the street. The officer showed up in a timely manner but then told me to drive my car on the side walk and off the curb. He said there was no reason to tow the car. The car still now two hours later is still in my driveway and my boyfriend also had to drive on the sidewalk in his truck, avoiding hitting the car blocking both of us in. Again thanks for nothing.
So one day I lost my driver’s license.
Scratch that, I gave my license to my honey to carry for me when we went for a long walk and somewhere along the way, he dropped it. He felt horrible about it. I obviously assumed it was gone forever, especially after our unsuccessful retracing of our steps, and promptly made an appointment at DMV to get a new one.
Then, almost a week later (and prior to my DMV appt), I get a call from my MIL that a detective from the Concord Police Department had called their house to say that they had my license. Keep in mind that I still have no idea how they reached my MIL. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised that the detective was so committed to finding me. It must have been a slow week.
I immediately called and spoke to the detective (I feel bad that I forgot his name) and appreciated his attention to the matter and his sense of humor. I inquired on how my license arrived to them and he said that it was turned in. THANK YOU, Nice Stranger!
I was able to go the station the next morning to pick it up. I walked up to the front desk and the officer asked if she could help me. I said, “I’m here to pick up my license,” and she said, “I’m SO glad we found you! I LOVE happy endings!” Again, it must have been a slow week if everyone was involved in (and so excited about) reuniting me with my license.
I had my passport ready to go, as advised by the detective. The officer just looked at me and said, “I don’t need your passport. I have your drivers license.” Well played.
Concord PD, plus Nice Stranger, saved me a trip to DMV. Five stars!

I know there has to be at least a couple of good officers on the force but most of them are racist, lazy, power tripping pieces of shit like the two named above.
I am over looking all of the times I have been detained and pulled over by officers for “suspicion of mischievous intent” because of my race and my model car. But today they had the fucking audacity to tow my car while I was at work. My work has called PD multiple times for drunken homeless hanging around causing problems and never arrived to escort them out of the property but apparently towing a Latino man’s car on private property is more important. As one of the regular drunken homeless with a restraining order from the property landlord was sitting by watching this all unfold. I had my court date and papers at hand and they blew me off. In #441 Spencer’s words “Your court date isn’t my problem.” No but you towing my car before my court date is you fat fuck.
5 Stars for Concord Police:
– Since there is no yelp for Clayton Police ( or are they absorbed into this yelp review page? ) I will at least give a Hi-Five to Concord PD because I asked an officer to sign off on my Fix-It Ticket from Clayton…he said they charge and it’d be better to go to Clayton…He didn’t have to tell me that, so cool on him for that!
…now i wish i could give a downer yelp for Clayton PD…
For the 10,000 time today I was wrongfully pulled over by the concord cops only because of the car I drive.
When I asked him why he pulled me over, He told me, “the only reason why you stopped at the stoplight was because you saw me behind you.”
1.) I made a complete stop.
2.) you don’t fuckin know me so don’t assume anything. I always make a complete stop at an intersection.
He then told me that my brake lights were out, which is funny because I have a new car. Once I got home I checked to see if my brakes were really out and surprise, surprise, it turns out he’s lying out of his ass like they all do, my brake lights are in perfect working condition.
After asking for my license and registration he then asked for my personal cell phone number…..since when is that protocol….?
Maybe you guys should stop real criminals instead of making bullshit traffic violations because you’re bored. I wish I could get away with lying just because I have badge on my chest.
I am the mother of one of the people at Waterworld in Concord, who had her personal property (iPhone) stolen on Saturday, May 30. My daughter called me immediately when she realized her phone was missing, and because I have “Find my iPhone” application on my daughter’s phone, I was able to pinpoint the location of her phone, and the citizens were able to recover it (as the officers looked on) along with many other personal property stolen from my daughter’s friend and other victims (more than 30) in the park. The estimated value in her bag alone was more than $5,000 as her friend is a Type 1 Diabetic and her insulin pump was in the bag. By stealing this bag, my daughter’s friend’s LIFE was put in danger. Unfortunately, not all items were recovered. I understand anything stolen over $950 is a felony. When I spoke to Concord Police Officer Phalen the following day, I was stunned to learn that the perpetrator was NOT arrested at the scene. His explanation for this was that the stolen items were recovered! SO WHAT? Yes, they were recovered, and they were recovered from the trunk of the suspect’s motor vehicle! What more do you need to make an arrest in Contra Costa County? I am grateful that we recovered our items but they were recovered only after they were STOLEN.
The thief needs to learn that she cannot get away without any consequences, and the victims, including my 12 year old daughter, need to see that our justice system works.
What’s the next step in bringing this case to court and seeing justice served?
Thank you, thank you new officer friend. I hope I remember correctly that he is officer Rose. I spoke with him today in great length. He is a great guy, and gave me some very helpful information that I totally appreciated. Basically, I wanted to inform the officer about some problems with noise, and the management doing NOTHING about this problem. It is so frustrating!!!
So..my new officer friend could feel my pain, he also has been out on patrol, and also understands what it is like to live in a communal living environment. It is also something that I know I need to do is to move from where I live, cause no one working here will ever take care of the problem. Quiet hours=quiet hours. Right? Right!!!
What if I was to brake some kind of rule and then go unpunished. That’s what happens here with my neighbors. They have a little kid that is a real pain!!!
I also told the officer all the problems that I have had with the maintenance staff where I live. Trying to fix and issue, and the issue ONLY GETTING WORSE. This is obviously messed up!! So..as you can tell from reading this review that I need
I want to write a review involving the useless piece of human garbage they have working in the parking department. I work in car sales. I know the law. I watched a friend’s car while she was out of state and helped with the paperwork to sell to another friend of hers. I won’t get into the specifics because that doesn’t matter. What matters is the complete disregard of customer service, proper respect, and humane treatment of your fellow citizen. Shitty excuses for human beings that take advantage of the fact that I can’t “choose with my dollar” or “take my business elsewhere” (an abuse of power many would call it) should not be working for a department that claims to protect and serve. I wish I had gotten her name, but she was literally one of the worst phone personalities I’ve ever spoken to. I’ve worked customer service since I was 16. I worked a call center for Wells Fargo. And this girl should NOT be in this job if she can’t manage to be a polite human being. I’m honestly so disgusted that she has a job. I had two interactions with her, not just one, and she was useless, disrespectful, and rude every single time. Shit like this is the reason why people hate police and their departments. If you can’t have compassion or at least show the basic human trait of empathy, you shouldn’t be in a fellow human facing position. Go work in a coal mine.
Compared to San Bruno PD (excluding officer Baker who is also great), Concord PD is pretty great.
My complaint has to do with the rather nonchalant voice at the other end of the non-emergency number. My ex-husband has violated my domestic violence restraining order, more times than I can count. I was told to file a report online. When I was contacted by an officer to follow-up, I was told that DV restraining orders are much more serious and that I should have come into the station.
One of the themes of the other reviews was crappy front desk service. If I were CPD, I’d take a look at that.
Really friendly service, even when they have to arrest you.
Their jail cells are even cleaner than most hotels! 0.O
As a bonus, a lot of the officers are absolutely gorgeous. Especially the blonde lady, the really short brunette lady and the tall, muscular bald guy… omg arrest me officer 😉
I’ve dealt with these guys on a few occasions and they are absolutely amazing and super sweet and professional. I was in the wrong hard core for one encounter and officer Dillon and the rest on staff were extremely courtious and non judgmental both the day of and the day after. It says a lot when someone can look beyond you at your worst and not only not judge you but help you on the road to make things better. 110% love these guys and appreciate what they do for us here in Concord!
Concord PD arrested my 15 year old son for battery and called me to come pick him up. I was told he could only be released to a parent..I picked him up, he became aggressive with me, and I called the police to pick him up. They found him and contacted me at 11;15 pm and I asked them to evaluate him. I waited all night for a call back from Officer Davis but never received one. The next morning I called to find out whether I could pick him up and I was told he had been released the night before to his "parent.' They did not release him to me or his father. THEY TURNED HIM OVER TO A STRANGER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! We did not see our son for 5 more days and when he returned home, he was not himself and some awful things happened to my child. A sergeant told me they made a "judgment" call. The only judgment they used was POOR JUDGMENT. I wrote the police chief twice but he was too busy to respond personally. Now, they can respond to my attorney.
I received a parking ticket at Concord BART for supposedly parking in a red zone. The red zone is very questionable as there is a defined difference between the newly painted red zone and the area that I parked in on the corner Grant and Oak. I have lived in the area and the area was newly re red zoned and this corner was not repainted however I was ticketed. I tried to dispute and presented pictures to a location not in Concord but in Southern CA. Despite my letter and pictures, I received a form letter saying that the ticket was upheld and I had to pay the ticket first and then schedule a hearing. All of this NOT by the Concord Police but an outside company. Is this company in New Port Beach even a company able to make legal decisions? I find this pretty shady and corrupt. A police office that can ticket you and take NO accountability. I have been in the area for 4 years now and see the Concord Police illegally parked on many occasions. What an upstanding department of Concord that can ticket you incorrectly and then not handle their own mistakes. What an easy way to create revenue, is this legal or illegal. How upstanding. If you have received a ticket on the corner of Grant and Oak for the same thing I would like to hear from you and take this matter to the Concord Police and show them we mean business. I feel Concord Police are a poor representation of Law Enforcement when doing what they do in this fashion.
Last year we had some guy break into our backyard and then into our garage. It's just me and my mother living here so it scared the crap out of us. As he was trying to break into the house through the backdoor my mother called the police. First of all the dispatcher asked if we had any weapons, hell yes I had a weapon, I grabbed a butcher knife when he started trying to bust through the door. She then told my mother to tell me to put the knife down before the police arrived. Umm…no. What was I supposed to do if he got in while we were waiting? When they arrived I put it down. They then found this guy passed out on top the car in our garage. After waking him up they asked me if I knew him, twice. I took that as implying I wasnt being truthful which I didnt appreciate. No I didnt know this guy. They seemed uninterested by the whole situation and escorted him out without even telling us if he was going to be put in jail or what. The guy totally destroyed the fence to our yard and broke a window but we had no way to press charges or make him pay for the damage. They have no problem pulling me over and questioning me for making "a weird turn" though or blocking me into a parking spot for no apparent reason and running my license plate presumably, I dont know what the hell he was doing, then driving away without saying a word to me.
Thank you Concord PD for a great job all the time. Please keep an eye on the people at the complex next to Cambridge Arms on Victory Lane… it is either 1104 or 1108 Victory Lane. All the way in the back, inside the parking lot, two people are always blaring their car music… to the extend that it makes our windows vibrate. We called many times about this but they never seem to stop.
