1993-2003 Ford Explorer Remote Programming Instructions:

1. Turn ignition to RUN or ACC.

2. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located in LR quarter panel area (Connector will not be plugged into anything, it will have two pins inside it, if you have to unplug it you have the WRONG one. Not all vehicles are set up from factory for keyless remotes)  All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode.

3. Press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming.

4. If programming a second keyless remote, press any button on second keyless remote.  Door locks will cycle to confirm programming.

5. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

2004-2015 Ford Explorer Car Key Fob and Remote Programming Instructions:

 

1. Close all doors and then open drivers door and press the UNLOCK button on drivers
door panel while door is open and insert key in ignition.

2. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in
RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.

3. Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle
to confirm programming.

4. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will
cycle again to confirm programming.

5. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

2016-2017 Ford Explorer Remote Programming Instructions:

You must have two previously programmed keys and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. If you do not have two previously programmed keys you will need a Locksmith to cut and program a second key.

1. Insert the first previously programmed key into the ignition.2. Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.

3. Switch the ignition off and remove the first programmed key from the ignition.

4. After three seconds but within 10 seconds of switching the ignition off, insert the second previously programmed key into the ignition.

5. Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.6. Switch the ignition off and remove the second previously programmed key from the ignition.

7. After three seconds but within 10 seconds of switching the ignition off and removing the previously programmed key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition.8. Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least six seconds.

9. Remove the newly programmed key from the ignition. If the key has been successfully
programmed it will start the engine and operate the remote entry system (if the new key is an integrated keyhead transmitter). If it was not programmed successfully, wait 10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 8.

2018-2021 Ford Explorer Remote Programming Instructions:

This vehicle is not on board programmable and requires a qualified professional to program smart key remote fobs.
1. Locate an automotive locksmith in your area using the phone number or website below.
2. If your vehicle is still mobile, it may save you money by driving to the locksmith instead of having them come to you.
3. The locksmith will then hook up specialized computer equipment to your vehicle in order to program the smart key remote fob.

The Ford Explorer Sport was a mid-size sport utility truck (SUT) produced by the Ford Motor Company from 2000 through 2010, with the exception of no 2006 model.
