Wafer Tumbler is a term used in lock design to describe a particular kind of internal tumbler element that aligns with a key to permit rotation of a lock plug inside a lock cylinder. What Is a Wafer Tumbler

A Wafer Tumbler is a flat, thin tumbler (often shaped like a small plate) that moves up and down—or in some constructions side to side—when a properly cut key is inserted.
