Hood Lock is the general term for the locking and retention hardware that keeps a vehicle hood closed and resistant to unintended opening. A Hood Lock can be part of the original hood latch design, or it can be a supplemental device added to improve theft resistance around the engine bay. In service settings, Hood Lock concerns most often surface after collision repair, latch misalignment, cable damage, or when engine-compartment theft risk is being evaluated.
